my most recent read was a suspense thriller named Roadside Crosses by Jeffrey Deaver. Surprisingly, i found a lengthy quip that i want to remember in my quest to be a great parent.

you know, Katie, a parent never knows if they get it right. i'm sure you've wrestled with that. you always hope, you always pray, that you give your children the resources they need, the attitude, the courage. that's what it's all about, after all. not fighting their battles, but getting them prepared to fight on their own. teaching them to make judgments, to think for themselves. and when i saw you questioning what i might've done, looking at what happened, i knew that i got it one hundred percent right. i raised you not to be blind. you know, prejudice blinds people, hate blinds people. but loyalty and love blind people too. you looked past everything, for the truth. of course you got it wrong, but i can't fault you for that - Edie Dance Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02679708059371284208noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1059828049715274683.post-76306714406820935692012-04-25T05:13:00.000-07:002012-04-25T05:18:09.599-07:0012 Reasons to Homeschool your Children

something i came across on blogspot.

1. Life is not about filling in the blanks, its about learning to think.
2. Home is where you can provide your children with a Christian World View. It is actually illegal for them to recieve that in the public system, this includes public schools online.
3. God's Word can have a place of honor in your home. It can be read freely, without threat of harm.
4. No one knows your children better than you. Is there a better person in the world to teach them besides you? I should say not!
5. Your children can be confident in their role in your family unit. Activities can be done as a family most of the time.
6. God has blessed you with these wonderful children. They are a gift from him. It is difficult to mold them to His will, if they are gone 8 hours of the day.
7. You will never have to worry about where your child is, what he/she is doing or what he/she is being exposed to.
8. Your children do not need to sit at a desk for 6 hours every day to become an educated person.
9. It is not important that your child learn to be in the same environment with 20 other people their same age. This does not happen in the real world. It is said that if your child can get along with their siblings, they can get along with anyone.
10. Each child learns differently and at a different speed. Your child needs to be taught at his/her own pace, not the pace of everyone around them. Grade levels are really not necessary.
11. You will never have to worry that your child is the victim of violence. Your home is safe.
12. And lastly but certainly not least, educating your child at home will give your child a greater chance of an eternal reward in heaven.

Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God will all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Duetronomy 6:4-7

Blessings as you begin your homeschool year. Suzie

thank you Suzie of www.homeschoolblessings-suzie@blogspot.com, for this nice blessing God bless!

this year i target to read a total of 50 books. sounds a little ambitious but when i was single i have no trouble finishing four books a week.

on one of my errands, i manage to squeeze a few precious moments at the book store and taking advantage of this, i brought home this armful of books, ranging from chick lit to contemporary fiction.

i finished the first book The Hunger Games series in two days and tonight i'm starting on Catching Fire (the 2nd book). i have another two on my currently-reading list with less than 100 pages to go. Hopefully, i can meet my target this year.
Early this week, the hard way has paid off!

i am happy, happy, happy that i had an extended lunch hour to savor at eat-all-you-can buffet. I won't say how many times i returned to the buffet table. suffice to say that it's been a long while, since i have been so full.
The hubby has been teaching Skid a couple of things during their father-son bonding moments.

One skill he recently mastered is the approve-okay thing. Initially, Skid cannot do the two-thumbs up. But last week a few days shy of his 25th month, he mastered the skill and we parents are proud to show this milestone
But nothing beats going home to a very sweet and lovable Skid. He hugged me tight, snuggling against my shoulder, showering me with wet kisses as if he's glad to see me home. All the stress and hirap, burado lahat!
Starting the new job with no illusions of prestige or grandeur, just eagerness to serve and a great deal of positivity.
My wardrobe, however, needs a major overhaul! My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm beginning to love the Prey series. Sandford never runs out of fresh ideas. He gives his readers a chance to look into a killer's mind.

The story of 'number 17' revolves around a couple of antiques, a husband-and-wife team, with the funny name of Big and Little and how they kill old people and making it appear as if everything is purely accidental. Nothing surprising in the ending: good guys always win. However, I find the sub-plot about the erring Senator Burt Kline totally unnecessary.

Here is what he's up to these days:

He has found his hands and he grapple for anything: shirts, hair, even his face. It's a joy watching him latch on to your shirt. Skid is three months now and I am back on track. Starting at 160 lbs or 73 kg. I walked 4.0 km for an hour on the treadmill. Sometimes I want to give up. Sometimes I am in the kitchen and I find myself opening the door of the refrigerator. I force myself to drink a glass of cold water instead.

I target to do this at least five days a week increasing my speed and distance as I go along. Hopefully, I can run and participate in an event next summer.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02679708059371284208noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1059828049715274683.post-63733887925608033612010-06-21T16:56:00.001-07:002010-08-17T09:14:25.886-07:00A goodbyeSkid's poo can get stinky and sour-smelling. Bong and I were worried. He suffered a fever for four days last month when he had his first shot. The yaya is having her day-off, so I would be alone tonight when Bong goes on his shift.

Skid was cranky and it took sometime for him to settle down. I had to rock him standing up the whole time we were at the doctor's clinic. It was a bit uncomfortable since patients were getting unsettled with Skid's wailing.

Skid became preoccupied with the colorful toys and mobiles in the doctor's clinic, but let out a loud cry when the needle went in.

Afterwards, he fell asleep but refused to be put down, resting in the crook of my arm the whole time. Changing nappies was an ordeal since he turns red with all the crying and wailing.

He woke up almost midnight, thankfully back to his usual cheerful self: cooing, smiling and looking up towards the ceiling. Dad's mind was put to rest and gave a small peck on his tummy before leaving for work.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02679708059371284208noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1059828049715274683.post-52687137238328162472010-06-20T10:09:00.000-07:002010-08-17T09:16:27.760-07:00Fathers' Day Celebration 2010
Fathers' Day is here again and restaurants will surely be jampacked. We turned on the air-con full-blast, while Kate and Skid played underneath a make-shift canopy out of a blanket, over Dada and Nana's bed.

After lunch, it was snooze time..... while Kate watched Tinkerbell on the Disney Channel.

Merienda was beef fajitas and chocolate fondue (na hindi successful. promised Kate a part II isang Sunday)

Last but not the least was the ever-present kodak-an

HAPPY FATHERS' DAY to all the fathers out there...the mothers who do responsibilities similar to a father...and to men who are not biological fathers but who try to be one. Also gave Babbu a Russ figurine of a Daddy angel playing with his little one. He placed it on the shelf, together with baby pictures of us three.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02679708059371284208noreply@blogger.com0
